In 2011 we introduced over 100 Scouts,Guides and Leaders to Scuba Diving for the first time and needless to say they had a blast!.
Scouts Canada Executive Commissioner and Chief Executive Officer Janet Yale and PADI Worldwide President and Chief Operating Officer Dr. Drew Richardson signed the agreement on June 22, 2011, with the mutual interest of developing youths' character and confidence by providing dive training and exploration of the underwater world.
“Scouts Canada programming allows youth to discover new adventures they wouldn’t get elsewhere,” said Janet Yale. “By partnering with organizations like PADI we are able to provide exciting opportunities for today’s youth that help them to develop into capable and confident individuals, better prepared for success in the world.”
“PADI Americas is excited to enter into an agreement with Scouts Canada,” added Dr. Richardson. “We look forward to strengthening our existing cooperative working relationship to further nurture Canadian youth involved in Scouts, Venturer Scouts and Rover Scouts.”
Scouts Canada has developed Scuba Troop Specialty Badge requirements for Scouts and has added Scuba as a Personal Interest Award elective option for Venturer Scouts both supported by PADI Dive Centres and Resorts across the country and available as of October 3, 2011.
