Emergency First Response-Primary and Secondary Care
The Emergency First Response (EFR) Course is an internationally recognizied study of primary and secondary care including application of up to date CPR training and the use of artificial external defibrillators. It is recognized by the Government of Canada and is in use in several provinces for workplace safety.
The Primary Care components focuses on the A-B-C-D-E’S
- Airway
- Breathing
- Circulation and CPR
- Defibrillation, Deadly Bleeding, Diabetes Treatment
- Environmental Emergencies
- Spinal injury and shock management
The Secondary Care components focus on
- Illness assesment
- Injury Asessment
- Bandaging
- Splinting
An abbreviated CPR/AED alone course is offered for those wishing to obtain these primary essential skills.
The Primary and Secondary as well as the CPR/AED course are valuable to non-divers as well as divers. We can all benefit from skills which enable us to assist those who are in medical emergencies at home, school, work or play.
The Emergency First Response Course includes a training manual and certification card upon succesful completion.

An optional extension to this course includes EFR—Caring For Children. This program covers primary and secondary first aid for children under 8 and can be beneficial to new mothers, baby-sitters or anyone working or caring for small children. This additional course is $70.00.
