Emergency First Aid
To be certified as a Rescue diver, participants must have completed a sanctioned course in CPR within the past two years. Introduced in 2003, PADI and DSAT came together to develop Emergency first Response (EFR) with both a primary care component (CPR) and secondary care (First Aid). Together, these courses can be used toward your Rescue Diver certification.
Although they are valuable courses in their own right. The EFR primary and secondary care courses are based on internationally recognized medical guidelines for emergency care, and are geared towards divers and non divers alike. The EFR course is designed like other two tiered first aid courses and includes training in Artificial External Defibrillators.
The Emergency First Response Course costs $130.00.
An optional extension to this course includes EFR and caring for children. This program covers primary and secondary first aid for children under 8 and can be beneficial to new mothers baby-sitters or anyone working or caring for small children. This additional course is $70.00.
